Innsbruck

In the morning we purchased a one day Innsbruck card for 29 euro each. Firstly we used the card for a one hour guided walk in the old town of Innsbruck with Alexandra. There were seven of us in the group with two different language explanations for each of the walks features. Firstly in German and then in English.

Alexandra was very entertaining and knowledgeable and these types of tours wake you up to many subtle features of the town.

Next we used the card to take the Hungerburg funicular railway and then two cable cars to climb to the top of one of the surrounding mountains. We reached a height of 2260 metres onto a snow covered mountain. On the cable car we travelled with a young group of Australians but managed to avoid the snow fight at the top of the mountain.

It was a little disappointing with cloud covering the top of the mountain but we took many shots on the way up and back. It actually snowed a little at the top of the mountain.

Imperial gardens were next where Peter watched a chess game. Black played badly.

Next we visited the Court Church. Yes, we have seen a lot of churches, but this one was particularly interesting because of the 28 large bronze figures and the tomb of Archduke Ferdinand II.

We did a loop on the hop on/off bus. Did some washing. That night for our evening meal we tried the Mozart entree which was a dish of many small appertisers. It was great.

It was only a two night stay but Innsbruck was fun.
