After returning from Victoria we spent the next day exploring Seattle on our own as Paul and Zoe were working. We returned to the Pike Place markets so that Peter could have another piroshky. There are lots of interesting stalls so we spent some time browsing.
We watched a group of buskers for about half an hour and ended up buying their CD.
Back to Paul and Zoe’s for another lovely meal, though we made the mistake of sending Peter down to the Safeway to buy icecream for dessert. Half an hour later he finally returned.
Next morning we had breakfast with Paul and Zoe then they drove us to the pier to catch the cruise.
Leaving Seattle.
We haven’t had an “at sea” day on a cruise before so we were interested to see what sort of activities were planned, though the scenery we were passing was enough to keep us on our balcony for quite a while.
There were pods of dolphins and some whales. The whales were easy to spot with their spray but they weren’t very close. We explored the ship, trying to familiarise ourselves with the layout. At least this cruise we were given a map plan of the ship which made it easier. We checked the daily schedule and discovered that they had trivia. It was held in the Crow’s Nest which is a forward facing lounge/bar at the very top of the ship. A great place to sit and watch the scenery go by. We joined up with 2 other couples, Cindy and Mark and Rachel and Mark and managed to win. Free drinks all around, went down very well.
We had a choice between fixed or open seating and had decided on open because we like meeting different people each night. Though this did lead to us being the last table to finish on several nights, including one where we thought the waiter was going to whip the cloth off the table.
