When we looked at the itinerary for the Alaskan cruise we realised that we would only be in Victoria B.C. for 5 hours, so we decided to do a separate trip from Seattle. There is a fast catamaran service that takes 2 and a half hours and we found a great last minute fare. The good fare was on the 7.30am trip, with check-in an hour before. Luckily, Zoe starts work early and the pier wasn’t too far out of her way so she offered to take us.
We checked into the Royal Scot hotel, a nice hotel close to the inner harbour with a bear dressed in a kilt out the front as you can see from the photo below.
We began exploring Victoria looking through the old town and Chinatown and then up to Beacon Hill park. It is a huge park close to the city centre with old trees gardens and wildlife. Claire was in her element.
Peter had researched things to do in Victoria and one of the recommendations was the Milestone restaurant. The recommendation proved very accurate. The food was excellent especially the dessert and we had the best seat in the house. The dessert in this photo comprised of five different tastes in large shot glasses all for 11 dollars. There was a battle over Claire’s favourite key lime pie. The meal was so good we came back the next night.
View from the restaurant.
Lots of local crafts men were selling the wares around this harbour.
