One of Victoria’s main attractions is The Butchart Gardens which was built on an old Limestone quarry over a hundred years ago. It is located about an hour from town, so we caught a local bus and enjoyed the scenery on the way there. Claire had a field day with the camera.
Fairly close to the gardens is a butterfly gardens with an impressive display of butterflies and wildlife.
Then we went in search of shops selling quilting material without much luck.
The following day we were leaving Victoria in the late afternoon so spent most of the day at the British Columbia Museum which had a special display on the dinosaur era. The other main components covered the first peoples exhibition which was interesting and recreations of the early days of settlement.
We returned to Milestones for dinner and they asked us which dessert we wanted after sampling 5 the evening before. Our answer was “all 5 again”. We thoroughly enjoyed Victoria, it’s a lovely little city.
There was the opportunity to do some duty free shopping on the way back to Seattle on board the clipper with the savings coming close to the cost of the tickets.
Just remembered your blogspot. Fantastic, looks like you are having a ball X
