There were so many interesting things to look at. Museums of various Scottish regiments, views of the city and surrounding hills and even the cemetery of the many dogs that had an involvement with the Castle.
View over the city towards Calton Hill
Foog's Gate
View of the city and the dog's cemetery.
Arthur's Seat.
We left the Castle to stroll down the Royal Mile, an interesting mix of souvenir shops, tartan shops, street performers and historic buildings. We stopped to watch a magician whose tricks seemed a bit obvious until his finale which surprised everyone. Very clever and amusing.
St Giles Cathedral
Peter is still not over his cold so we decide to have a rest on a bus and head out to see the Royal Yacht Britannia. It is on display at the Port of Leith. The tour was certainly interesting with access to most of the areas on the yacht.
The Queen's bedroom.
The banquet hall.
At the end of the day Claire still had some life in her legs so she decided to climb Calton Hill. It is quite close to our hotel and we can see it from our window.
The Scottish Monument
Holyrood Palace
The view back down to "The Conan Doyle" where Peter was waiting patiently. We again resisted the temptation to try haggis.
