Gibraltar

We are back on dry land and to the world of free internet so hopefully we will catch up with the last few days of our cruise.

We sailed into Gibraltar in the afternoon and took the opportunity to practice our selfie taking.

The first thing we noticed was how much more expensive it was than Spain. There were several minibuses offering trips up the Rock, but they didn't spend very long at each spot so we decided to pay for the return cable car trip. The first thing we saw at the top was a very cheeky monkey who stole someones hat.

We took a photo of a couple looking over the harbour and they returned the favour.

Our ticket include entry to a few of the interesting places on the Rock so we set off for St Michael's Cave.

On the way we encountered a family of monkeys. Claire was brave enough to sit next to them after watching several other people do it.

The cave was used as a hospital during WW2 and has now been turned into an auditorium with a sound and light show.

The exit from the caves is about halfway down the rock so we were faced with the prospect of climbing back up a set of steep stairs or making our way down on a slightly less steep path. On the way down Claire again showed her bravery by posing on a suspension bridge. Luckily Peter wasn't on it to get it wobbling.

We met another Australian couple who were also walking down. We were all feeling it in our calves when we got to the bottom so sat down for a well earned drink before heading back to the ship.
